The Denel Rooivalk is a contemporary South African metal structure attack helicopter with a fixed landing gear. The drive is provided by two motors Turbomeca Makila with 1904 HP each. The machine was first flew in 1990, but its production did not start until the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. It is assumed that about 12-15 helicopters of this type were built. The machine is armed with a single 20mm F2 cannon, and can carry up to 16 Mokopa ZT-6 anti-tank guided missiles or other equivalent armament. Denel Rooivalk was developed on the basis of many technological solutions used in the SA 330 Puma helicopter, by the Atlas company from South Africa. The helicopter was created as a result of the arms embargo imposed on South Africa, and at the same time in connection with the conflict of this country with Angola (the so-called border war), which made it necessary for the South African armed forces to have an attack helicopter dedicated to destroying enemy tanks. However, the work on the machine dragged on and its production started only in 1999! At present, there are 12 machines of this type in the line.
