DISCONTINUED Arma Hobby 49009 PZL P.8/I model żywiczny

PZL P.8 (another designation: PZL P-8) was a Polish prototype fighter aircraft from the interwar period. The machine was built in a high-wing configuration, it featured a metal structure and a classic-fixed undercarriage. The prototype flight took place in 1931. The drive was provided by a single engine Hispano Suiza 12 Mc with a power of 649 hp. The deck armament consisted of two 7.7 mm machine guns.

PZL P.8 was constructed by eng. Zygmunt Puławski - the same who was responsible for the project of the very successful PZL P.7. The new machine was in fact a far-reaching development of the solutions used in the previous aircraft, Eng. Puławski, among other things, it has retained the specific upper wing (also called the Polish one or the Puławski one) and the fixed undercarriage in the classic configuration. Most of all, however, it uses a very strong for those times in-line engine. Despite its good performance, the machine did not turn out to be fully successful and in 1931 its specimen crashed, with its constructor at the controls, who died on the spot. This disaster, as well as the withdrawal of Polish aviation from the use of in-line engines, prevented the implementation of PZL P.8 into mass production.
