The effective range of a shot from a weapon mounted on a tripod is up to 1,200 meters. The weight of the weapon without a base or tripod is 10.85 kilograms. The MAG machine gun was developed in-house Fabrique Nationale de Herstal by Ernest Vervier. It was assumed that the new weapon would be as versatile as possible, would use standard NATO 7.62 mm ammunition and that it would be as reliable as possible. It is worth noting that the weapon has been designed with solutions previously used in BAR and MG42 rifles. Finally, a highly successful machine gun was created, which was characterized by high durability of the structure and reliability. Also, its ballistic parameters were at least good. As a result, the rifle entered service in dozens of countries around the world, including Argentina, Georgia, Israel and the USA.
