A-Model 72221 E-7PD Soviet aircraft

The E-7PD was a Soviet prototype shortened take-off and landing aircraft from the post-war period. The prototype flight took place in June 1966, but the machine never entered mass production. The E-7PD aircraft was developed in order to test the possibility of creating a STOL aircraft, i.e. with a shortened take-off and landing route. The machine was developed in the design office of Mikojan and Guriewicz, based on the MiG-21PFS plane. The new plane received other power units, and its fuselage was extended by approx. 90 centimeters. The take-off shortening engines were mounted behind the pilot's cockpit, while the main engine was still located at the rear of the fuselage. It is worth adding that although the E-7PD was quite an avant-garde design for the 1960s, it did quite well in flight, and many conclusions and solutions used in its construction were later duplicated in the construction of the Yak-38.
