HMS Norfolk was a British heavy cruiser of the Second World War. The keel was laid in 1927, the launch took place in December 1928, and entry into service with the Royal Navy in 1930. The total length of the ship at the time of launching was 193 meters, total width 20 meters, and full displacement - about 13,600 tons. The maximum speed was around 32 knots. The deck armament at the time of launching consisted of, among others: 8 203 mm guns or 8 102 mm guns.

HMS Norfolk was one of the British County cruisers of the Norfolk subtype. County-class units were built in keeping with the Washington Conference, while also replacing the rapidly aging Great War (1914-1918) cruisers. They put particular emphasis on good seafaring, strong armament and a relatively high maximum speed. One of the units of this class was HMS Norfolk, which was built in the shipyard Fairfield Shipbuilding and Engineering Company in Goran, Scotland. During World War II, the unit took part in the operations in the Atlantic in 1939-1941, including taking part in the action against the battleship Bismarck, which ended with its sinking. Later HMS Norfolk was covering the Arctic convoys and in December 1943 took part in an action against the battleship Scharnhorst. After World War II, the unit served in the waters surrounding East India. It was on this cruiser that the Norwegian royal family also returned to the country. HMS Norfolk was scrapped in 1950.
