The ZiS-44 took over a lot of elements from the ZiS-5V, but it will receive a completely new wooden transport compartment for the transport of the wounded. ZiS-44 was able to transport 7 wounded on a stretcher and 8 wounded in a sitting position. in the years 1942-1944 about 520 units of this vehicle were produced.
