The Mercer Type 35 Raceabout is an American sports passenger car that was presented to the public for the first time in 1911. The car was powered by a single engine with a capacity of 5 liters and 55 HP. Originally, a 3-speed manual gearbox was responsible for the transmission. The maximum speed of the car in its first units reached a staggering 105 km / h, and it would increase even more over time. The Mercer Type 35 Raceabout was designed by Finley Robertson Porter, and its small series production was carried out in a workshop in Trentom, NJ. Undoubtedly, the presented model was one of the most unusual and one of the most exclusive American sports cars of the years 1910-1920. The car was characterized by a very unusual design, but also great - for those times - maximum speed or good road properties. He also won numerous rallies and car races organized at that time in the USA. Currently, copies of this car can sell for $ 2.5 million at auctions!
