Siemens Halske Bo is an electric industrial locomotive manufactured by Siemens und Halske AG (later: Siemens AG) based in Berlin for the Julia coal mine in today's Bytom. The first prototype and experimental vehicles of this type were built in Germany in the second half of the nineteenth century, but it was only the great development of electrical engineering, especially electric motors at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, that made it possible to use this type of drive on a large scale. The Siemens Halske Bo locomotive was characterized by small dimensions and a compact structure. It was also adapted to move on tracks with a width of 785 mm. It did not have internal batteries, such as the so-called shunting locomotives, but was supplied from the overhead line through a current collector (pantograph). Its electric motors had a power of 115 HP and were adapted to the current voltage of 500 V. The Siemens Halske Bo locomotive used the axle system with two driving axles, which was very popular at the beginning of the 20th century.
