The Kawasaki GPZ900R (other names: Ninja 900 or ZX900A) is a Japanese sports motorcycle that was first presented to the public in 1984. At the same time, its serial production began, which lasted until 1996. The bike was also the first to belong to the Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle family.
The Z GPZ900R was developed and put into production with the aim of significantly strengthening Kawasaki's position in the sports motorcycle segment, as well as applying and testing several new technologies. Above all, the motorcycle was powered by an innovative 908cc liquid-cooled 4-cylinder engine that was relatively light, but also reliable, generating 115hp with the limiters off. Kawasaki GPZ900R, thanks to this drive unit, but also refined aerodynamics, had much better performance (especially the maximum speed, which reached 243 km / h) than its competition, such as Suzuki GSX1100. Huge popularity of this model was also caused by the "appearance" in the movie "Top Gun". The company's offer was replaced by the Kawasaki GPZ1000RX.
