DISCONTINUED Special Hobby 72290 IAR-37 Rumunian Light Bomber

The IAR 37 was a Romanian reconnaissance aircraft and light bomber from the Second World War in a biplane with a fixed landing gear. The drive was provided by a single engine IAR K-14-II C32 with 870 hp. The flight of the prototype took place in 1937, and shortly after the machine entered mass production. Together with the improved version (IAR-38), about 100 copies of this aircraft were made. The deck armament consisted of three Browning FN 7.92 mm machine guns. The machine could also carry a load of bombs weighing up to 288 kilograms.

IAR 37 was created in response to the Romanian Air Force's demand for a new, light and possibly cheap-to-produce reconnaissance plane and light bomber. After passing a series of field tests, the machine was put into mass production However, due to the insufficient pace of engine production IAR K-14, it was decided to create a version of the aircraft marked IAR-38, which was powered by a BMW 132a engine with lower power (700KM, instead of 870KM), but could be produced much faster. Both versions of the plane ( IAR 37 and IAR 38) entered the line in the period 1938-1940 and were used primarily on the Eastern Front in 1941-1944.
