Tauro 105 FIAT 3000 Mod. 21 IIa SERIE

The Fiat 3000 is an Italian light tank from the end of World War I and the interwar period. The vehicle was powered by a single 50 to 63 HP carburettor engine. The first prototypes of the vehicle were made around 1920, and serial production was carried out in 1921-1930. 152 vehicles of this type were built in its course. It was the first mass-produced Italian tank in history.

The Fiat 3000 was developed to provide the Italian army with the vehicles it needs to build its own armored forces. Initially, it was planned to start production in 1918, but due to technical and organizational problems, it was started only two years later, reducing the order from 1,400 to approx. 150-200 cars. The design of the Fiat 3000 was largely based on the French Renault FT-17, which can be seen at first glance. However, several upgrades were applied to the Italian tank. First of all, the front part of the hull was changed, a completely different engine was used and it was placed differently in the hull, which allowed for the shortening of the tank and lowered its weight. The shape of the engine compartment was also changed. Tanks of this type took part in the fighting in Libya in 1926 and - to a minor extent - during the Italo-Ethiopian war of 1935-1936.
