FIAT SPA Autoprotetto S37 was an Italian armored car from the Second World War. The first prototypes of the vehicle were created in 1941, and serial production probably continued in the years 1941-1942, ending with the production of about 150 vehicles of this type. The car was powered by an engine SPA 18VT with 67 HP. The vehicle was armed with a single Breda mod. 38 cal. 8 mm.
The Autoprotetto S37 is based on the very successful FIAT TL37 light artillery tractor. Thanks to the use of its chassis and general design assumptions, the new armored car of the Italian army was characterized by very good off-road characteristics, great mobility and four-wheel drive. The armor did not exceed 8 millimeters thick and protected against small-caliber weapons and artillery shell fragments. Small amounts of the Autoprotetto S37 were converted into a flamethrower or 47 mm anti-tank guns. Autoprotetto S37 vehicles took part mainly in anti-partisan actions in the Balkans, and a small number of them were used by the German army.
