Jelcz 021 is a Polish articulated city bus, which was presented for the first time in 1966. Its serial production was carried out in the years 1967-1979 and took place in Zak³ady Samochodowe Jelcz. Popularly, due to its elongated and oval shape, it was called a "cucumber", just like the Jelcz 014 tourist bus.
Jelcz 021 was developed as a successor to the Jelcz AP-02 city bus. The main changes compared to the predecessor were focused on improving maneuverability, reducing the turning radius of the vehicle and, in particular, reducing the cornering of the rear part of the bus. The chassis was also redesigned with a new rear axle, as well as more ergonomic passenger doors. However, the same engine was retained, i.e. the Skoda 706RT diesel engine imported from Czechoslovakia with 160 HP with direct fuel injection. The same that powered the Jelcz 014 bus. The bus could carry up to 136 passengers, including 42 seated. In 1969, an export version appeared, marked as Jelcz 021E, which was sold mainly to the GDR.
