The 2A45 Sprut is a Soviet (now Russian) 125mm anti-tank towed gun from the Cold War and modern times. The maximum range of the weapon is up to 12,200 meters, while effective APFSDS shells can be fired at a distance of about 2,000 meters. The rate of fire of the weapon, with a well-trained crew, reaches 6-8 shots per minute.
The 2A45 Sprut was developed as the new anti-tank gun of the Soviet Army in the late 1980s. Its production started in 1989. In order to unify the gun, it was adapted to fire the same missiles as are used by tanks from the T-72, T-80 or T-90 family. Interestingly, one of the variants is the 2A45M Sprut-B cannon, which had an integral engine that allowed it to move around the battlefield, although limited, on its own. In this mode (APU mode), the gun can travel up to 50 kilometers, with a speed on a paved road of up to 14 km / h. Under normal conditions, the MTL-LB tractor is most often responsible for towing the cannon.
